This is the October writing challenge from Five Minute Friday. The plan is to successfully post everyday. We write for five minutes (unedited and that’s a challenge) and stop. Visit FMF to see more posts.

Ephesians 6:17 (NIV) Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
I hesitated with this one, even losing a day. The prompt left me uncommonly wordless.
Then, this morning, for the third time in as many days, the word daggers came up in my morning quiet time. I watch and listen to a short list of good bible teachers and they used daggers, like those carried by Roman soldiers used in close combat against an enemy, when teaching on the Sword of the Word. Memorizing scripture and using it in close combat against THE enemy.
God’s word is the best defense against temptation, anger, worry, and so much more inflicted on believers and non-believers alike.
For use in warfare, we need a specific word. Ons spoke by God to you for a specific reason. These are called the Rhema of God, the utterance, the voice of, the declaration of one’s mind made in words (Strong’s Concordance #4487). The declaration of God’s mind, through His written word personally delivered to our hearts and minds. Wow! Not typically an audible thing, but always a very REAL thing.
But you won’t have it unless you open the book. There are many common verses we hear, and maybe even quote. These verses will produce uncommon results when used effectively in prayer and defense.
Get in the Book, start building your defense, and collecting your daggers so you will be ready on the battlefield.
