How to find peace in circumstances beyond your control. It sounds like a self-help book title. Millions are sold every year.
So many search for the elusive peace but pause too long at comfort instead. Comfort comes in many forms: food, drink, drugs, shopping, porn, over-work, even ministry. These are Band-Aids and while they bring momentary comfort, they won’t bring peace. They just cover unhealed, festering wounds that eventually bubble over into full-blown infection. Yuck!
Our Jesus, the Great Physician, forgives all our sins and forgets all our faults and is the only source of true healing (Psalm 103:3). Jehovah Rapha (Hebrew), the God who Heals. Accept His offer, my friend.
Seek Him first and don’t stop until you find Him. He’s already standing at the door, can’t you hear Him knocking (Revelation 3:20). He has an invitation for you, accept it.
Some people just can’t accept a gift. They feel uncomfortable with it like now they owe the giver. They repay out of obligation, not from the heart. We can’t ever repay Jesus for what He did for us on the Cross. He freely gave Himself for us. For you and me. Accept His free gift of salvation. Accept Him.
Don’t be so anxious that your ears stop working. When our heads are full of worry, emotions spin cotton balls and stuff them into spaces the Holy Spirit should occupy. This says, “I can’t trust God.” That doubt only leads to more spinning. Been there, done that!
STOP! Breathe…pray…shhh…listen…
Believe the promise. Be anxious for nothing and bring everything to Jesus. He doesn’t limit us. Be thankful knowing that He hears you, so hear Him back. The peace of God is more than we can comprehend and it will guard your heart and mind, just trust Christ for that.
Accept the promise and experience His comfort like no other.
Be Anxious for nothing, but in everything by prays and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7, NASB)
