John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; in have overcome the world.”

Start –

So, when does the peace start? If my faith is based on the victory realized in the crucifixion (1 John 5:4) and the knowledge that the One Who overcame the world loves me enough to live in me, and is greater than he who lives in the world (1 John 4:4), then haven’t I also overcome.

Why don’t I feel the victory and the peace that comes in it? I’m mean all the time, not just few and sometimes far between snippets. Okay, I admit it; I’m greedy for the victory.

So, what is there to overcome? Insecurity, doubt, self-centeredness, pride, lack of self-control, sadness, emptiness — you name it, these feelings all steal our victory in Christ. They are all stumbling blocks, either self-inflicted or imposed by the world around us. Could it because of our lack of faith, because we don’t ask God for help, because we don’t trust?

The victory is in the Cross and our faith in Jesus because of It. Until we let the knowledge of His loving sacrifice for us sink in and give Jesus sovereignty over our hearts, we won’t experience that “peace prize” we all need.

Have you asked God to reveal the roadblock, the reason you can’t take the next step in your faith? Why not? He will lead you in the everlasting way (Ps 139:23-24), and you will experience His peace. Just ask?
