The Not-So-Final Draft
As the fruit of the Spirit develops, so should our identity statement. Not because our identity changes, that is set when we are saved. Not because God loves us more or less as we grow in faith, or don’t. The identity statement changes as our understanding of and relationship with Jesus deepens.

Determining an identity statement is not done to fluff and buff your ego so you feel better about yourself. It’s not to cover over what others have told you about how they see you, or what you could improve in your appearance or personality. It’s more like your car windshield defroster.
Faith Experience
We are saved by faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). We can’t work our way into heaven. Our identity in is Christ, Who we received at the moment of salvation, in the form of the Holy Spirit. Saved by faith and forgiven by grace. Your identity is not in what you do or have done. Now that we’ve cleared that up…
