Matthew 11:28-30 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
I have every reason to praise God and no reason to complain, yet I still do. He has given me everything I have. First, my husband and my children, even before that, He gave me my parents and values. He provided a job and education, a home, memories, nature and the opportunities to experience it, and so much more. Have you considered your blessing today?
Yet, we have burdens. The good news is we don’t have to carry them alone. You see, God also gave us a place to lay our burdens down. For me, it is the weight of caring for my aging mom and sister, who has Down Syndrome and Alzheimer’s.
That place is at the foot of the Cross. He provided this place because He loves us (John 3:16), and He knew, even on that day, that life would be hard at times. He also knew that we would try to go it alone, but God calls us to be humble. But when we aren’t, He will make us so for our good,
Accept my work and learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will find rest for your souls. The work that I ask you to accept is easy. The load I give you to carry is not heavy. –Matthew 11:29-30 (ICB)
I can tell you, even though it comes from a position of love, the lesson of humility on Jesus’ terms can be painful. So, listen to what He has to say. And praise Him because His love is greater than you or I could ever imagine. Praise Him for all that He has for you. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Ephes 1:3). Praise Him because He offers them freely to all who believe.
Praise Him.
