Dear One,
Let’s talk about the Living God, Elohim Chayim, today. Even though we read about Him in our Bibles, an ancient text, He is still alive today. God is current. He knows our struggles, joys, and challenges as they creep in from the past and sit in our culture today.
Elohim Chayim is Living and active and here for everyone. So, place your confident hope in the Living God, who is the Savior of everyone and especially of those who believe. (2 Timothy 4:10)
- For pre-Christians, God is waiting for each one to turn to Him.
- For believers, there is so much more. The Living God is active in our lives through His word, creation, and life experiences that illustrate His character and instruction.
Think about it. Can you remember an experience that you knew God orchestrated things on your behalf? Everyone has one.

Trust the Living God
Elohim Chayim was there as Joshua led the Israelite soldiers across the Jordan River into the promised land to drive out the current inhabitants. God promised this land to his people (Genisis 15:18-21) long before they left Egypt, and Joshua trusted God to make good on His promise. He did for them and He will for you too.
9 Joshua said to the Israelites, “Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God. 10 This is how you will know that the living God is among you and that he will certainly drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites. –Joshua 3:10 (NIV)
Remembering that the Living God keeps His promises should help you replace any fears you might have with trust in God.
Thank the Living God
Because God is alive, we can actively praise, thank and love Him for what He has done and is doing. God is not a story or a statue depicting the past. His is not only the Old Testament God, but He is also the New Testament God.
We have believed and confidently trusted, and [even more] we have come to know [by personal observation and experience] that You are the Holy One of God [the Christ, the Son of the living God].” –John 6:69 (AMP)
He is the Living God, Elohim Chayim.
Elohim Chayim, thank you for being active and engaged in our everyday lives. You are not a God who sits far off, removed, and distant, having no say in what happens to me. Just as you drove out the inhabitants of the promised land before the Israelites, you are alive and moving in the situations of the lives of your children today. Thank you for your interests, care, concern, and loving participation in us, through us, and around us. (Paraphrased, Evans et al., Elohim Chayim 2014 p. 36)
There, that should be enough to mull over until next time. I know this short study shifted my perspective. How about you?
