Acts 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
I lost three days of posting while keeping my grandchildren for the weekend. So, I’m claiming this freebie from my Pastor (a sermon for today) for the post I should have gotten done yesterday. Thanks!
In this passage, Jesus is telling the apostles that they will receive the power of the Holy Spirit for a specific purpose. The same power believers have today, but do we tap into it? Are we fulfilling the purpose Paul is pointing to in Acts?
He gives us the power to be HIS WITNESSES! To tell the world who He is, what He’s done and is still doing. We are His witnesses, empowered to go into the world to tell people about the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The apostles were first called to Jerusalem, then to other neighboring areas, and then to the world’s remotest parts. They didn’t have the technology. No podcasts. No blogs. No Youtube. They had to speak about Jesus, to tell people who Jesus was, and they did.
Your world could be as close as your own home, your workplace, your city, or as far as a mission trip might take you, even to the remotest part of the earth. All you have to do is access the power of the Holy Spirit, pray for the words and sensitivity to respond to His prompting, and speak.
Know this; we are all given the power of the Holy Spirit for a reason – don’t waste it.
Done for today and caught up for the week –
This is the October writing challenge from Five Minute Friday. The plan is to post every day successfully. We write for five minutes (unedited, and that’s a challenge) and stop. Visit FMF to see more posts.
